ProArc Rendition Server

For efficient communication and collaboration, documents should be available in a format readable to all involved users. PDF and TIF are such formats. ProArc Rendition Server is used to automatically convert documents to PDF or TIF.

The Rendition Server is used to convert documents from proprietary to open formats like PDF or TIF.

Customizable rules in ProArc are used to define when a conversion should be trigged, e.g. on status changes, new revisions etc. When an event is raised, a request is sent to the Rendition Server.

A server process will export the file and convert the file to the file format defined in the server configuration. The file is imported to ProArc.

Example:
When a revision is locked (e.g. by setting a status code), the drawing is converted to PDF. When a new revision is created, the original drawing is moved or copied to the new revision, and the PDF is kept on the historic revision as the official version of that revision.
